Sweet love it’s Valentine’s day again very soon and February 14th 2011 falls on the most un-romantic night of the week, Monday. Well, forget about trying to book a restaurant, it’s probably too late by now anyway, and save yourself from paying the inflated Valentine’s Day prices for a set course lunch surrounded by strangers. Get the right film in and make a night of it. Here’s our top 10 romantic films for Valentine’s Day.

We are starting with the best. The British romantic classic that reminds us how good it is to be loved and how much we are willing to do when we know we are in love with someone. This film works for your girlfriend or your wife.
She’s seen it before, guaranteed, but she’ll love watching it again on Valentine’s day and being remnided of Hugh Grant’s prime minister with a crush on his secretary, Colin Firth who can;t find the words to tell his housemaid what he really feels about her, and Keira Knightley who can’t understand why her new husband’s best man is so cold with her.

Your deep love for each other deserves a love story with depth. This one works for both him and her with the romance of love that just cannot be erased for her and the sci-fi twist of a future world with treatments that can alter the mind for him.

His only hope is to erase all memory of Clementine (Kate Winslet), the girl that he cannot be without, but, the link between the two of them is too strong and not even altering their minds seems to be able to dim the love that Joel feels for his Clementine.

We remember it and the woman in your life will remember it to. She’ll also love being reminded of a man with all the right intentions and the resolve to make sure that the right thing is done, no matter what.

Rose’s relationship with Jack defies her status and has only just begun when it is brought to an end by the sinking of the ship.

And after An Affair To Remember, we have to include Sleepless in Seattle. He lives on a houseboat! You can’t get much cuter. Our recently widowed hero is doing his best to get on with lifge after losing the love of his life. Bringing up his son on his own, he hasn’t put any effort into finding anyone else, so, his son decides to do it for him.
This also introduces Meg Ryan to our list of Valentine’s Day’s best. We could easily make a whole top 10 list of the best known romantic films that only included Meg Ryan. You’ll see her crop up again later in this list.

Love is all about a good first impression, isn’t it? Are you saying that you didn’t get the same thunderbolt that everyone else got when they first laid eyes on the partners? I thought that love at first sight was the norm for all of us and it was only in the movies that a relationship that starts off badly is able to grow into true love.
Meg Ryan makes another entry in our list of the best Romantic Valentine’s Films
The most romamntic film of the 90s! Yes it is! If you can think of a more romantic film than Ghost in 1990-anything let me know in the comments. It’s another entry on our list for Patrick Swayze too! Set in our favourite part of the world, TriBeCa in New York, this young couple are separated when he is killed by a mugger. In the afterlife, he gets a chance to protect her and to help understand why he was killed.
Break out the wine, chocolates and handkerchiefs for this one, and, have same plasticine hidden behind the sofa for when the potters wheel scene comes on.
And a few titles that didn’t quite make the tyop 10 list this time but are worthy mentions: Casablanca, P.S. I Love You, French Kiss, You’ve Got Mail and Like water for Chocolate.
